Project Type(s): Emergency Insurance Works

Location: Sydenham, South London

Value: £13,000 + VAT

Duration: 2 Weeks

Date Completed: March 2022

Following the storms in the early part of 2022, Triquetra were called to attend to an emergency Insurance repair to a property in South East London. Due to the strong winds and the design of the roof pitch, the front tiles of the overhang lifted which subsequently took the gable wall with it.

Following the urgent request to erect scaffold to prevent any further debris from falling, we carefully had to remove all remaining brickwork including taking down the top main section of wall down to the moulded red brick course.

The next stage was to rake out all existing brick pointing to the entire gable end. All bricks that can be re-used were cleaned and set aside for later re-use and all surplus material was then removed from site.

New brickwork was utilised as required to rebuild the Gable end to match original. This included inserting steel restraint straps, fixed to the roofing joists as necessary to tie Gable to roof structure.

On completion of the above structural work, the Gable end was re-pointed complete using a 4 Sand & 1NHL Lime mortar mix.

Following completion off all masonry repairs, new roof tiles were installed to match the existing, reducing the overhang to match the neighbouring properties, re-forming the verge pointing on completion.

All loose debris from existing gutters were then removed and fully flushed through. The scaffold was then removed on completion.
